Pack-fit

Pack smarter before you hit the trail.

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 20, 2026

The short version

Pack-fit estimates whether your backpacking gear is likely to fit in a backpack, using the specifications manufacturers publish. It is an estimate to help you plan, not a guarantee. Check your gear in the pack before you rely on it.

Estimates, not guarantees

Results are calculated from published sizes, volumes and weights, and from stated assumptions. Soft items compress by uncertain amounts, packs stretch and bulge, and real packing depends on technique. A result such as “Likely fits” means the numbers suggest it should; it is not a promise that it will.

The 3D view is an illustrative sketch. It does not show how to pack and does not decide whether gear fits.

Do not rely on Pack-fit for safety or legal decisions, for example whether a bear canister is required or approved where you are going. Check with the land manager and the manufacturer.

Product information

Product names, brands and trademarks belong to their owners. Pack-fit is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any manufacturer, and does not sell products.

Specifications are taken from the manufacturers' own pages, which are linked with the date we checked them on the “Specs and sources” page. Manufacturers change their products and pages, and our copy can be out of date or contain mistakes. Check the manufacturer's current information before you buy or travel.

Corrections and removal requests

If you are a manufacturer, or anyone who spots an error, email [email protected] with the product and what should change. We will review it and correct or remove the information as appropriate.

Using Pack-fit

You may use Pack-fit for personal, non-commercial planning. Do not scrape it, copy or redistribute its catalog, or try to disrupt the service.

Disclaimer

We offer Pack-fit as it is, with no promises: not that it will always be available, not that it is free of bugs, and not that its estimates or product details are right for your trip. You use it at your own judgement.

Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that follow from using Pack-fit, such as buying a pack that turns out too small or gear that does not fit on the trail. Pack-fit is free, so if we are ever found liable, the most we owe is what you paid us: nothing.
